Dusty even made the bow!
Dusty wrapped this himself and even made the bow out of newspaper. I was so impressed!

come as you are...

I saw this by maypapers from picture this a while back but hadn't found the motivation (or courage) to participate until now...here goes...

This is me, trying to get my blogging and Flickr posting done before my boys wake up. I love our iMac!

Would anyone else care to be fashionably late to the come as you are party?

Christmas Party -- Homeschool Style

Rain could not dampen (sorry. couldn't help myself.) the holiday spirits at our homeschool group's Christmas party. With festive music to set the mood, the kids (and some brave parents) worked hard to create their graham cracker, ginger bread, and candy master pieces...

Wanna play a game?

messy game cabinet

Growing up, I spent a great deal of time at my Mamaw's house. She had a cabinet (twice the size of mine and much more organized) completely stocked with board games. Some were new, but my favorites were the ones which had been used for years, the edges of the boards worn and the corners of the boxes taped many times over. These were the games my dad had played with his brothers and sister and friends. These were the games that had stood the test of time. My cousins and I could play for hours.

I am happy to say that not a day passes in our house without someone going to our game cabinet, which has been stocked with many of the games that I played growing up. From a quick game of Connect Four or Battleship to a 4-day marathon of Monopoly, our family is carrying on a wonderful tradition.

Astro A posted a poem to his blog today. I can definitely identify with it (at least once a month). Well done, A!

sad week

Last Saturday brought terrible news to our family. A life-long friend of my dad's died suddenly and unexpectedly. Bob was a truly good person who was loved by all who knew him. He leaves behind family and friends who will miss his sweet smile and gentle heart always. Life was far too short for this kind man.

We laughed, because somehow, the kids sat at the "big" table and the "grown-ups" sat outside on the patio and in the tv room. It wasn't like that when we were kids! Here are O and two cousins eating Aunt Joyce's famously delicious mac 'n cheese...

Here are a few photos from our homeschool group's Halloween party and from trick or treating in J-ton. We had a great time, right up until our car got nailed with a rotten egg on the way home from J-ton. Yuck!
