busy Friday

We started Friday with A's morning tennis practice, followed by a trip to our favorite bookstore. After lunch we went to the Witte and then finished up the day with a very cool skate party for a very cool 7 year old friend. What a day!

the botanical garden

Just one week after the big freeze, my expectations were not very high when I took the boys to the botanical garden yesterday. We ended up staying for over three hours and having a fabulous time. All three of us had our cameras, so you can look forward to seeing some great shots from the boys as soon as I get a chance to download them.

The highlight of the trip for the boys was a strawberry popsicle (real fruit and no trans fats!) from a vending machine in one of the courtyards.



Astro A's favorite part was the Japanese Garden. It had such a peaceful atmosphere that I could see him calm down as soon as he entered it. He now wants to put together a small Japanese Garden of his own, complete with water fountain. I hope he does. :-)

We have been talking about odd, even and prime numbers lately. Today there just happened to be 7 cheese sticks left in the box, so I asked the boys how we should divide them between the three of us. O counted the cheese sticks and without hesitating said, "One for you and three for us!"

"Is seven an even number?" I asked.

"No," said O, "That's why you get one!"

I guess that if there would have been only six, I would have been out of luck! (grin)
